What is this project?
The HA EU WATCH project provides intelligence for the Highways Agency on ITS developments in Europe. The project summarises key information for decision makers and practitioners on activities related to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Europe.
The project covers specific areas of key interest to the HA. These are:
The project follows on from the successful HA EU WATCH project carried out in 2003-2005 and 2005-2007.
How does this help the HA?
The HA has a stated aim to become more integrated within Europe, and has a desire to be informed about ITS developments in Europe. The project is improving awareness within the HA of ITS activities in Europe, and identifying opportunities for the HA to take part in activities in Europe, highlighting where the HA can benefit most from these activities.
What services does the project provide?
The project provides the following services:
- A regular Newswire email service, delivered to your inbox, containing summaries of ITS developments in Europe; the Newswire is combined with information on ITS Pilots and other developments around the world under ITS Radar (see http://www.itsradar.co.uk/);

This website provides more detailed information and research on the key areas of interest (including a glossary of ITS terms, available on the FAQ page of the site);

News information on future conferences, events, and proposals for projects in which it may be of value for the HA to become involved;

Updates on the work of the Euro-Regional Projects in the EasyWay programme;

A Final Report containing a summary of the work and recommendations for further work.
What next?
The current phase of the project started in March 2008 and is expected to run until early 2010.

The project also provides an Opportunity Tracker. This summarises the status of opportunities identified for the HA during the project and is provided to the Highways Agency as an internal document.
