4/10/2008

The CVIS (Cooperative Vehicle-Infrastructure Systems) project consortium has announced the Cooperative Systems Workshop and Product Launch Event, to be held on 10-11 December 2008 in Berlin, Germany. The two-day Workshop will take place at the conference facilities of the Adlershof Science and Technology Park and will use the test site for demonstrations of the CVIS universal reference platform.

CVIS has reached an important milestone: the development and beta testing of its universal reference execution platform for cooperative systems. This multi-purpose open platform provides multiple communication interfaces, precise positioning and software support for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) cooperative systems, and can be installed in both vehicles and roadside units. At the workshop, static and mobile demonstrations will feature the first implementations of CVIS example applications.

The Workshop will include:

o        Presentation of core communication and network technologies for cooperative systems

o        Presentation of the CVIS reference execution platform in vehicle and in roadside installations

o        Presentations from other relevant initiatives and projects

o        Demonstration of vehicle-infrastructure communication based on the ISO CALM standard for management of short- and medium-range communication

o        Demonstration of advanced positioning

Participants will be able to gain hands-on experience during a number of laboratory and outdoor demonstrations. The event will present results from CVIS, national and other European FP6/7 project results in the area of cooperative systems.
