The “Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Convergence: Building SDI Bridges to Address Global Challenges” Conference will take place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, 15-19 June 2009. According to the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GDSI) Association website,
"Geographic information technologies and spatial data infrastructure play critical roles in allowing various organisations to make progress in addressing many of the world’s most pressing problems... This conference will explore the convergence towards best standards, practices and processes among nations while at the same time explore ever evolving and exciting new approaches to the offering of geographic data and services in meeting real world needs."
The conference consists of:
o the Third INSPIRE Conference (see the article below for further information on the INSPIRE Directive)
o the Eleventh International Conference of the GSDI Association
o the National Conference on Dutch Spatial Data Infrastructure: Results and Challenges.
Topics at the conference may include:
o Design and development of registries for geographic data, metadata and services
o Innovative methods for challenges in implementing spatial data infrastructure concepts, components and systems
o Experiences with current spatial data infrastructures at local, regional, national and multi-national levels and their evaluation.
